Sony Pumps Brakes on El Muerto Film
Sony Pictures Entertainment's announcement last year of plans to adapt the minor Spider-Man player El Muerto into a feature film was a head-scratcher for fans.
Now Deadline reports that the studio has taken the project off of its release calendar.
The film had been slated for a January 2024 release - just seven months from now. With little news and movement on the feature, it's not surprising the release has been bumped.
The project is being developed as a vehicle for rapper/actor Bad Bunny (Bullet Train) with Jonás Cuarón directing.
Sony's next Spider-library title will be Kraven The Hunter this October, with Madame Web slated to drop next February. The studio is also working on Venom 3 and Hypno-Hustler for the big screen, and Silk: Spider Society for Prime Video.
