Wonder Man is a planned Disney+ live-action TV series from Marvel Studios based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is reportedly cast in the lead role of Simon Williams. Ben Kingsley is reported to be in talks to reprise his Trevor Slattery character on the show. Demetrius Grosse (Fear The Walking Dead) is cast as Eric Williams, brother to Simon and the villain known as Grim Reaper.
Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) is developing the series as head writer, with Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) executive producing and directing episodes. Stella Meghie (Minx) is also directing episodes.
Wonder Man was initially a villain in the form of a promising scientist, but failed businessman named Simon Williams, who squanders the empire he inherits. He first joins the Avengers as a ruse by the Masters of Evil, but eventually turns on the Masters and sides with the Avengers, proving himself loyal. As his superhero adventures take off, he also purses a career in acting and becomes a movie star.
While the character hasn't appeared in the MCU before, Simon Williams is name-dropped on an 80s-era movie poster that appears in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. There was also some talk of Nathan Fillion making a cameo as the character in that film.
