The Wolverine is 20th Century Studios's 2013 live-action feature film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is the second film in the Wolverine Film Series and the fifth in the X-Men Film Series.
Hugh Jackman reprises his role as the mutant Logan who is living in seclusion in Japan after having been forced to kill Jean Grey in X-Men: The Last Stand. He is found by Yukio (Rila Fukushima) who has been hired by Logan's World War II ally Ichiro Yashida (Haruhiko Yamanouchi). Yashida is dying and Yukio believes she can transfer Logan's regenerative abilities saving one life while allowing Logan to grow old and die in peace.
James Mangold directed the film from a script by Mark bomback and Scott Frank.
The Wolverine was well-liked by critics and fans, and did respectable box office. It inspired the 2017 sequel Logan.
