The Boondocks: Available on HBO Max

The Boondocks is the 2005 animated [adult swim] TV series based on cartoonist Aaron McGruder's comic strip of the same name.

The show focuses on Huey Freeman, a 10-year-old living in the mixed-race suburb of Woodcrest. An intellectual liberal, Huey is often on the receiving end of ridicule from his brother Riley and his Grandfather Jebediah. His enlightened perspective gives the show its sharp-witted, satirical eye.

McGruder developed the series for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block. It ran for four seasons over 10 years and concluded in 2014.

In 2019, a planned revival series was announced with HBO Max ordering two seasons. However, a February 2022 report indicated that the promised new seasons were not going forward with the streamer.
