Superman III is the 1983 Warner Bros. live-action feature film adapting of the DC Comics hero of the same name. It is a sequel to Superman II and the third film in the Reeve Superman film series.
Christopher Reeve returns as the man of steel who revisits his origins in the town on Smallville. The film also co-starred Richard Pryor as a computer savant who is forced to do the bidding of the film's villain. Richard Vaughn plays the villain as a sort of stand in for Lex Luthor. Annette O'Toole joins the cast as Lana Lang. Returning from previous installments are Jackie Cooper, Marc McClure and Margot Kidder.
Campier than the previous two movies, Superman III was generally frowned upon by fans and critics alike. The movie is followed by Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.
