Spider-Man: No Way Home is the 2021 Sony Pictures Entertainment / Marvel Studios live-action sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home and the third movie in the Spider-Man MCU film series.
Although Sony initially said they did not want to do an additional collaboration with Marvel under the terms of the previous films, on September 27, 2019 it was reported that the studios reached an agreement to co-develop the third Tom Holland Spider-Man movie.
Peter Parker's life is in turmoil after the events of the previous film, where Mysterio revealed his secret identity to the world. He turns to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), hoping for a mystical resolution to the identity problem and the effects is having on friends and family. However, Strange's reality-altering breaches the multi-verse, inviting in a host of villains from other franchises including Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus (Spider-Man 2), Jamie Foxx's Electro (The Amazing Spider-Man), Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin (Spider-Man), Thomas Haden Church's Sandman (Spider-Man 3) and Rhys Ifans Lizard (Amazing Spider-Man 2).
In a twist that, sadly, leaked on social media long before the movie's release, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield also figure prominently as Peter's trans-dimensional counterparts.
Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, J.K. Simmons and Charlie Cox also appear in the film.
Jon Watts, the director of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, handled the directing chores here, from a script by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers.
Spider-Man: No Way Home was a massive success at the box office and delighted fans of the character and its various franchises.
The movie may be followed by Spider-Man 4, which is confirmed to be in development.
