Madame Web is a planned Sony Pictures Entertainment live-action feature film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.
Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) is reportedly cast in the lead role in the movie. Sidney Sweeney (Euphoria) is also attached in an unspecified role, though some are speculating she would be Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat. Also cast are Adam Scott (Severance), Celeste O’connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), Tahar Rahim (The Serpent), Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), Mike Epps (The Upshaws) and Zosia Mamet (The Flight Attendant).
Story details are scarce. Comic readers were introduced to Madame Web as a woman named Cassandra Webb, an elderly woman who has the gift of telepathy and sometimes aids Spider-Man. The hero name was later given to the character Julia Carpenter, who was introduced during the first Secret Wars comics as the new Spider-Woman, and now serves as a younger version of the character. It's not clear how the film will juggle the mythos, but it's not likely that Johnson will be playing a geriatric on life-support.
Rumors indicate that the Madame Web character will be positioned as a major power in the Sony Spider-Verse, analogous to the MCU's Doctor Strange.
S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones) is tapped to direct from a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Morbius).
