Ghost World is the 2001 independent feature film based on the Fantagraphics comics of the same name by Daniel Clowes.
The film focuses on misfit teenagers Enid (Thora Birch) and Rebecca (Scarlett Johansson) on the cusp of graduation from high school and grappling with their diverging interests. Enid befriends a lonely, single man named Seymour (Steve Buscemi). Brad Renfro and Illeana Douglas also star.
The move was directed by Terry Zwigoff from a script he co-wrote with Clowes.
It was critically well-received and nominated for numerous film industry awards, including an Oscar nomination for the screenplay.
