Avengers: Infinity War is Marvel Studios' 2018 live-action feature film adapting the Marvel Comics franchise The Avengers. It is the third film in The Avengers film series, following Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
The film, the nineteenth in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ties together numerous events and plot seeds from the previous films. Thanos (Josh Brolin) has accelerated his hunt for the infinity stones, gemstones of power seen in previous films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: The Dark World, Avengers and Doctor Strange to name a few. The hunt leads the Titan warlord and his minions to Earth, where several of the stones now reside. it falls to the combined heroes of the MCU, including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Vision (Paul Bettany), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and many others to stop Thanos' plan.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War) from a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, Avengers: Infinity War combined crowd-pleasing action with deft character interactions. The result is an event movie like no other, a blockbuster box office success, revered by fans and critics alike. The movie ranks as the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time.
It is followed by Avengers: Endgame.
