Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cleopatra is the 2002 live-action Pathe film based on the comic book Astérix & Obélix, created by Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. It is a direct sequel to Astérix & Obélix vs Caesar and the second film in the Asterix Film Series.
In this adventure Asterix (Christian Clavier) and Obelix (Gerard Depardieu) become enmeshed in a feud between their nemesis Caesar and the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra (Monica Bellucci).
The film was written and directed by Alain Chabat.
During its production it was the biggest-budget French film ever made. It enjoyed the biggest opening of any film in France.
