The 2002 spectacle Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cleopatra is coming back to theaters as a glorious 4K restoration as only French filmmakers could accomplish. Here's the French language trailer. See the movie July 5.
A film, restored in 4K, by Alain Chabat. Cleopatra (Monica Bellucci), the Queen of Egypt, in a wager with the Roman Emperor Julius Caesar (Chabat), agrees to build a sumptuous palace in the middle of the desert in three months. If she succeeds, he will have to concede publicly that the Egyptian people are the greatest of all peoples. To do this, Cleopatra calls on Numerobis (Jamel Debbouze), an avant-garde architect full of energy. He'll either end up covered in gold, or fed to the crocodiles. With the stakes as high as they are, Numerobs seeks help from his old friend Getafix (Claude Rich). The Druid travels to Egypt with Asterix (Christian Clavier) and Obelix (Gerard Depardieu). However, Amonbofis (Gerard Darmon), Cleopatra's official architect, jealous that the queen had chosen Numerobis to build the palace, will do everything to defeat his competitor.
