The long-awaited sequel to The Walking Dead, revealing the fates of Rick and Michonne, now has a first teaser trailer. Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln return to the world of the walkers in Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, coming 2024 to AMC and AMC+.
The Walking Dead: The Once Who Live is a 2024 AMC TV spin-off of the hit series The Walking Dead.
This mini-series is being produced in place of the Walking Dead movie project that had been announced in 2019.
An announcement at Comic-Con International 2022 revealed that Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira will reprise their characters of Rick Grimes and Michonne Hawthorne for a six-episode run.
Scott M. Gimple is serving as showrunner with Lincoln and Gurira executive producing.
The logline provided for the show tells us that the series, "presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?"
It is unclear if Pollyanna McIntosh will appear. McIntosh played Anne (aka Jadis) in the series and had previously been cast in the movie. Her character was directly involved in Rick's exit from the show.
