The LEGO Batman Movie is a 2017 animated theatrical film spinning out of both The LEGO Movie and DC Comics popular Batman franchise.
Will Arnett reprises his role of the LEGOized version of Batman, an arrogant superhero who views himself as the ultimate loner who needs nobody else. That includes his butler Alfred Pennyworth (Ralph Finnes), police officer Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson) and his adopted orphan son Robin (Michael Cera), the latter two of which want to follow in his footsteps as crime fighters. Stung most by Batman's lack of care is The Joker (Zach Galifianakis) who sees him self as the arch-nemesis Batman refuses to acknowledge.
Wanting to cement his role as Bats' opposite number, Joker takes possession of Superman's (Channing Tatum) Phantom Zone Projector, which allows him to assemble an unstoppable legion of villains the likes of which Gotham has never seen -- because they all hail from other Warner Bros. film franchises: King Kong (Seth Gree), Sauron (Jemaine Clement), The Wicked Witch of the West (Riki Lindhome), Lord Voldemort (Eddie Izzard) and The Gremlins as well as some generic knock-offs like the Swamp Creature, a shark with big jaws and more.
Directed by Chris McKay, the movie was well-received critically and a hit at the box office.
