Supergirl (1984)
Supergirl is a 1984 feature film that spun off from the successful Superman film franchise.
Actress Helen Slater makes her feature film debut as Kara Zor-El who is transported from a pocket of trans-dimensional space containing a Krypton colony, to earth where she gains the same powers as her cousin, Superman. Faye Dunaway plays the villain Selena. Marc McClure reprises his role of Jimmy Olsen from the previous series.
The movie was produced by Alexander Salkind and Ilya Salkind who held the film rights to the Superman franchise.
Supergirl was directed by Jeannot Szwarc (Somewhere in Time) from a script by David Odell (The Dark Crystal).
