Snowpiercer (2013 Film)

Snowpiercer is the 2013 live-action South Korean feature film based on the graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette.

Chris Evans stars a Curtis Everett, a passenger living in the tail section of the Snowpiercer, a globe-spanning super train that has been engineered to serve as an ark to save humanity during a climate crisis that has caused the world to freeze. Everett leads the tail passengers to revolt against the upper class that occupies most of the rest of the train, and Mr. Wilford (Ed Harris), the elitist who engineered the vehicle. The movie also stars Song Kang-Ho, Tilda SwintonJohn Hurt, Jamie Bell and Octavia Spencer.

Bong Joon-Ho (Parasite) directed from a script he co-wrote with Kelly Masterson. The film opened to wide acclaim for its simultaneous depictions of the issues of wealth disparity and climate change. It was a huge box office success is South Korea, and gradually built a loyal audience in the United States and other countries.

Elements of both the film and the graphic novel were adapted into the later TV series of the same name.
