A young, contemporary rabbit warrior in training teams up with his fellow creature combatants to fight yokai and fulfill a Samurai destiny in this first full trailer for Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles. The series debuts on Netflix April 28.
Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles is the 2022 Netflix animated TV series based on the beloved comics Usagi Yojimbo by Stan Sakai.
The series follows the teenage rabbit, Samurai Yuichi, descendent of the great warrior Miyamoto Usagi, on his epic quest to become a true samurai. But he isn’t alone! He leads a ragtag team of misfit heroes – including a roguish bounty hunter, a cunning ninja, an acrobatic pickpocket and a faithful pet lizard – as he battles depth-charging moles, metal-tipped winged bats, and monsters from another dimension, all in the pursuit to become the best Samurai Usagi!
James Wan, of Aquaman fame, is one of the producers along with Sakai on what will be a CGI-animated show. Dark Horse Entertainment (The Umbrella Academy, Hellboy) is also producing. Candie and Doug Langdale, who have worked on many animated series including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, also are attached as showrunners and executive producers.
