Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is a 2023 Disney Channel animated TV series based on characters from Marvel Comics. 

Devil Dinosaur was created by Jack Kirby in the late 1970s. Those comics were set in prehistoric times and found the angry red dinosaur paired with a pre-human boy called Moon Boy. 2016 saw a successful revival of the red dino as he is time-warped to present day New York City. There he encounters 13 year-old genius Lunella Lafayette who takes on the moniker of Moon Girl.

Disney provides this description for the series: Based on Marvel’s hit comic books, the show follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette andher 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City, the duo works together to protect the city’s Lower East Side from danger.

Singer/actor Diamond White (The Lion Guard) is set to star as Lunella Lafayette (aka Moon Girl) while noted monster-voicer Fred Tatasciore will growl out Devil Dinosaur's lines. Her grandmother Mimi's voice will be provided by Alfre Woodard (Luke Cage). Also cast are Libe Barer (Sneaky Pete) as Lunella’s best friend and manager, Casey, Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live) as Lunella’s mom, Adria, Jermaine Fowler (Superior Donuts) as Lunella’s dad, James Jr., and Gary Anthony Williams (Doc McStuffins) as Lunella’s grandfather, Pops. Series executive producer Laurence Fishburne will voice the recurring role of The Beyonder, a curious and mischievous trickster.

The voice cast also includes Omid Abtahi, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Michael Cimino, Indya Moore and Craig Robinson in recurring roles. Guest voices include Alison Brie, Andy Cohen, Daveed Diggs, Maya Hawke, Jennifer Hudson, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Cobie Smulders and Wesley Snipes.

The show is executive produced by Fishburne and Helen Sugland’s Cinema Gypsy Productions and Steve Loter (Kim Possible). Rodney Clouden (Futurama) is supervising producer, Jeffrey M. Howard (Planes) and Kate Kondell (The Pirate Fairy) are co-producers and story editors, and Pilar Flynn (Elena of Avalor) is producer.
