Marvel Studios One Shot

Marvel Studios One Shot is a series of live-action short films, produced by Marvel Studios, depicting characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The shorts were typically released as extra content on the home video release of various movies. The episodes are:

The Consultant - features Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson and Maximiliano Hernandez as Jasper Sitwell of the World Security Council. The pair debate what should be done about The Abomination in the aftermath of The Incredible Hulk, and ultimately decide to send Tony Stark to talk to General Ross (as is seen in the stinger scene from that movie). The episode was included in the disc release of Thor.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer - Gregg returns as Coulson is en route to his assignment to investigate the appearance of Thor's Hammer in New Mexico (a scene that is teased in the stinger for Iron Man 2). Coulson shows off his secret agent combat training in this one. The short was included with the disc release of Captain America: The First Avenger.

Item 47 - is fairly unique in that it introduces new characters Bennie (Jesse Bradford) and Claire (Lizzy Caplan), a pair of losers who find the titular item of Chitauri weaponry after the Battle of New York depicted in Marvel's The Avengers. They embark on a crime spree but are eventually caught by Sitwell and Agent Blake (Titus Welliver) who recruit them into S.H.I.E.L.D. Blake would recur on Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. but Bennie and Claire were never seen again. The episode was included on the disc release of Marvel's The Avengers.

Agent CarterHayley Atwell reprises her role as Agent Peggy Carter, one year after First Avenger, now a member of the Strategic Scientific Reserve. Consigned to desk duty, Carter picks up a late-night distress call and proves just how capable an agent she is. The segment proved to be a precursor to the Agent Carter TV series. It was bundled with the Iron Man 3 disc release.

All Hail the King - Finds Ben Kingsley as actor Trevor Slattery, serving a prison sentence after his criminal activities in Iron Man 3Sam Rockwell also appears as fellow inmate Justin Hammer. Scoot McNairy arrives as a documentarian hoping for an interview with the attention-hungry Slattery, but he soon reveals himself to be an agent of the Army of the Ten Rings, who are not happy with Slattery's impersonation of their leader. He removes Slattery from prison to meet the real Mandarin, a development that eventually plays out in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The short was released on disc with Thor: The Dark World.

Team Thor - This is a series of three short films that were not initially conceived as part of the Marvel Studios One Shot. They are directed by Taika Waititi and feature Chris Hemsworth as Thor, revealing his activities during Captain America: Civil War (where he did not appear). The documentary-style shorts find him sharing an Australian apartment with a roommate named Darryl (Daley Pearson). The humor pieces were filmed during the production of Thor: Ragnarok and released as viral marketing for the film. Mark Ruffalo and Jeff Goldblum also appear. These were pulled under the One Shot umbrella on Disney+ in 2022.
