Logan Director To Take on Swamp Thing?
The credible first talent rumor to follow yesterday's blast of DC Studios announcements comes from The Hollywood Reporter.
According to their sources, director James Mangold is in talks to take the helm of the just-announced Swamp Thing reboot.
Mangold's comics-to-film bona fides are well established with his work on The Wolverine and the critically-acclaimed Logan. His next film is the much-anticipated Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
According to the report, discussions are in the early stages, so this is far from a done deal.
Pennyworth Cancelled
HBO Max has cancelled Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman's Butler, according to a report from Deadline.
The series, which just wrapped up its third season in November, has had a tumultuous history.
It was conceived for the Epix network, where it ran for two seasons under the title Pennyworth. That network opted not to go forward with a third season.
HBO Max jumped in and rescued the series, lengthening the title for marketing purposes.
The move is not surprising as Warner Bros. Discovery has been enthusiastically sharpening its vision for DC Comics properties under the new DC Studios banner.
