Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is the Sony Pictures Entertainment's 2012 live-action sequel to Ghost Rider, both based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.
Nicolas Cage returns as cyclist Johnny Blaze who has sold his soul to the devil and now bears the curse of the Ghost Rider, who doggedly finds and feeds on the evil actions of men. This time he's drawn into intrigue between Nadya (Violante Placido), her son Danny (Fergus Riordan) and Mephistopheles, who is going under the human form of Roark (Ciaran Hinds). Danny is part of a bargain Nadya made, which would the devil will inhabit to allow him ultimate power on Earth. Blaze finds himself in conflict with Blackout (Johnny Whitworth) and Moreau (Idris Elba) who all seek Danny for different reasons.
The film was directed by the duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor from a script by Scott M. Gimple, Seth Hoffman and David S. Goyer. It delivers an edgier and more entertaining version of the character than the previous film. However it was a flop at the box office and with the critics.
