Garfield: The Movie is the 2004 live-action/animation hybrid feature film based on the Garfield comics by Jim Davis.
Breckin Meyer has the human lead in this film as Jon Arbuckle, owner of the slightly-overweight, extremely-under-enthused cat Garfield (voiced by Bill Murray). Their simple life together is disrupted when Jon inadvertently adopts a dog named Odie in an attempt to woo his veterinarian crush, Dr. Liz Wilson (Jennifer Love Hewitt). When Garfield's attempts to rid himself of Odie succeed too well, he finds himself with a distressed owner and a jury of neighborhood pets who shame him for his selfish actions. Therefore Garfield must embark on a reluctant quest to rescue the "dumb dog" and restore his good name.
Garfield was a perplexing blend of CGI animation (Garfield himself) and live action (everything else, including all the other talking pets). The movie was greeted with mostly negative reviews, but did respectable box office none-the-less. It prompted one direct sequel and was hilariously referenced by Murray in both Zombieland and Zombieland: Double Tap.
