Dredd is the 2012 live-action feature film based on the 2000 AD comic book character Judge Dredd.
Karl Urban stars as the titular Judge Dredd, who patrols Mega-City One as law-enforcement officer known as a Judge. Judges are are empowered as the singular embodiment of three branches of law-enforcement: judge, jury and executioner. In this film Dredd, along with his new partner Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) investigate a murder at the city-structure called Peach Trees. The drug lord who runs Peach Trees, Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) seals the building locking the Judges inside against her army. The film also feature Wood Harris and Domhnall Gleeson.

Dredd is lauded by fans as a gritty adaptation that is much truer to the comics than the previous 1995 film adapting the character. It also sparked with critics as well. However, the movie did not fare well enough to warrant the planned sequels.
