DMZ is the 2022 HBO Max live-action, limited television series based on the DC/Vertigo comics by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli.
The show was developed by Roberto Patino for HBO Max, with Ava DuVernay on board as director and executive producer.
The story involves a U.S. civil war which has transformed Manhattan island into a demilitarized zone (DMZ). Rosario Dawson plays Alma Ortega, a medic working to save lives in the DMZ. Benjamin Bratt (Doctor Strange) is cast as Paco Delgado, the charismatic leader and would-be ruler of the new New York City. Freddy Miyares (When They See Us) is set to play Skel, one of Delgado's most ruthless enforcers. Hoon Lee is cast as the power-broker called Wilson.
Also in the primary cast are Jordan Preston Carter and Venus Ariel. Guest cast includes Rutina Wesley, Nora Dunn, Jade Wu, Rey Gallegos, Mamie Gummer, Agam Darshi, Juani Feliz and Henry G. Sanders.
