Regina King to Direct Bitter Root Adaptation
Regina King is set to helm a feature film adaptation of the Image Comics title Bitter Root, according to a report by Deadline. The book, created by created by David F. Walker, Chuck Brown and Sanford Greene, is set in the 1920s where the monster-hunting Sangerye Family fights to save New York, and the world, from a supernatural force that feeds off of prejudice. Bryan Edward Hill is writing the script for Legendary Pictures. King is producing with partner Reina King for Royal Ties. Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian are producing for Proximity Media. Walker, Brown and Greene are executive producers along with Sean Owolo.
Ms. Marvel Wraps Production
The Disney+ live-action series Ms. Marvel has completed its principle production, according to Variety. The series had begun filming filming in the state of Georgia and then relocated to Thailand where is wrapped this week. The show, based on the newest iteration of the character, features newcomer Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a teenage girl who idolizes Captain Marvel, before gaining superhuman abilities of her own. The series will likely debut later this year and will also play into the newly-retitled feature film, The Marvels.
