Warner Bros Releases Blue Beetle Poster
Warner Bros. Discovery has released the first key art for the much buzzed-about Blue Beetle movie.
Just a teaser, the poster features an ornate blue scarab, with technological etchings, very emblematic of the techo-mythic origins of the character to be featured in the film.
The movie will focus on the third-generation iteration of the character, Jaime Reyes, played by Xolo MaridueƱa. The Reyes comics were the first to delve into the idea that the empowering scarab is actually technology from an alien race called The Reach.
Angel Manuel Soto is directing from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
The poster also proclaims the movie will be available, "only in theaters," re-affirming the studios' drive to make sure DC Comics movies are theatrical specatcles and not streaming releases. The film is due in theaters August 18.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Poster
Supporting the recent trailer release of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, Marvel Studios also released new key art for the film.
The poster features the assembled team: Rocket (Bradley Cooper), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Kraglin (Sean Gunn), Cosmo (Maria Bakalova), Groot (Vin Diesel), Drax (Dave Bautista), Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana), sitting on one of the engines of their new star ship, The Bowie. Behind them is the setting sun, a fitting metaphor for the final chapter of one of Marvel's better franchises.
Sandwiched in between the Marvel Studios' logo and the film's official logo the phrase, "A James Gunn Film." While it's a fairly typical credit for Hollywood movies, it is very rare for the director of a Marvel Studios picture to get this kind of visible credit on a teaser poster. The poster also calls out John Murphy as the composer.
The May 5 release may be Gunn's final work at Marvel as he moves on the shepherd the DC Studios library.
