If you're looking for something to watch while in lockdown, and if you hate yourself, you could always stream Catwoman starring Halle Berry. He's a clip, courtesy of Warner Bros., to give you a taste of what to expect. Catwoman (Berry) goes on the hunt for the man who killed her (Michael Massee) and maybe learns something about her boss' (Sharon Stone) corporate cover up.
Catwoman is the 2004 feature film adapting the DC Comics character of the same name.
Halle Berry stars as a reimagined version the iconic Batman villain. In this take she's Patience Phillips, a character that is not connected to the comic book source material. Nerdy and meek, Patience works for Hedare Beauty, a cosmetics corporation run by a scheming megalomaniac named Laurel Hedare (Sharon Stone). When Phillips uncovers evidence that the company's product is harming its customers, Hedare orders her killed. She's mysteriously revived by a seemingly mystical cat, a revival that erases her shy, weak persona and replaces it with the bold, athletic Catwoman who proceeds to take Hedare down.
The origin story bears some similarities to the Catwoman origin presented in Batman Returns including the meek protagonist killed by her unhinged boss and magically reborn thanks to some cats. That's because this movie started as a spin-off vehicle for Michelle Pfeiffer. It struggled through the development process with a parade of leading ladies before finally going forward with Berry.
It was directed by Pitof (who was largely known as a visual effect supervisor) from a script credited to John Brancato, Michael Ferrris and John Rogers.
The movie was a dude both in terms of box office and critical receptions.
