Whiteout is the 2009 Warner Bros. live-action feature film based on the Oni Press comic book series of the same name created by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber.
Kate Beckinsale stars as U.S. Marshall Carrie Stetko who is suffering a dog-house assignment at the United States Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica after her law-enforcement career was disrupted by an unscrupulous partner. Just ahead of the station's winter lockdown, Stetko discovers a body and begins a murder investigation knowing that the killer is likely locked into the Station with the rest of the research staff. The film also stars Tom Skerritt, Columbus Short and Gabriel Macht.
Dominic Sena directed the film from a script by Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber and Chad Hayes & Carey Hayes.
The film found warmth from neither critics not moviegoers.
