The Tick is a 1994 Fox Kids animated TV series based on the independent comics by Ben Edlund.
The show follows the adventures of a newly graduated super hero (voiced by Townsend Coleman) who has been assigned to protect "The City." He befriends a nerdy accountant Arthur (Micky Dolenz and Rob Paulsen) who has superhero aspirations of his own. They team up with an assortment of second string heroes like Die Fledermaus (Cam Clarke), American Maid (Kay Lenz) and Sewer Urchin (Jess Harnell) to defeat an array of improbable villains. Other noteworthy voice actors include Brad Garrett and Roddy McDowall.
The animated series was developed by Edlund and became an instant fan favorite. It was nominated for several Annie Awards for animation and won two. It was also nominated for three Emmy awards. The series ran for three seasons for a total of 36 episodes.
