The Return of Swamp Thing is the 1989 feature film sequel to Swamp Thing, both based on the DC Comics character of the same name, crated by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson.
Dick Durock returns to the lead role as Alec Holland who has been transformed into the mud monster. Heather Locklear joins the cast as Abby Arcane who arrives in the swamp to confront her evil stepfather Anton Arcane (Louis Jourdan, reprising) over her mother's mysterious death. She discovers that Anton is creating a legion of mutant monsters called the Un-Men and, with Swamp Thing's help, tries to stop him. The cast also includes Sarah Douglas (Superman II) and voice actor Frank Welker (Transformers).
The movie is directed by Jim Wynorski (Chopping Mall) from a script by Neil Cuthbert (Mystery Men) and Grant Morris. The movie was greeted with less-than-favorable reviews and earned Locklear a Razzie for Worst Actress.
It was followed by the USA Network TV series Swamp Thing.
