Spider-Man (Japanese TV series): Series Premiere

Spider-Man is a 1978 live-action TV series produced by Toei Company loosely based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.

Takuya Yamashiro, a motorcycle racer has a chance encounter with an interstellar craft called the Marveller. An spider-warrior alien named Garia injects Takuya with his own blood, transforming him into Spider-Man. The new hero must continue Garia's mission of finding the villain Professor Monster and his Iron Cross Army, and prevent them from destroying Earth the way they destroyed Garia's planet

Toei's Spider-Man is obviously a major departure from the source material, infusing the wall-crawler with a healthy dose of Kaiju and Power Rangers-esque heroics. This Spider-Man including weapons such as a Machine gun and the Lepardon -- a giant robot.

41 episodes were produced, which were followed by a movie.
