Spider-Man (1967): Series Premiere

Spider-Man is the 1967 animated ABC TV series based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.

There are few cartoons as iconic as this series, which introduced the web-slinger for legions of fans around the world. Season one of the show was somewhat faithful to the comics, with Stan Lee serving as consultant and canon villains like Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Lizard, Scorpion, Electro, Rhino and Mysterio serving as villains. Seasons two and three saw famed animator Ralph Bakshi take the reigns. However it had a reduced budget that saw the inclusion of lots of generic villains instead of licensing characters from the comics.

The show is fondly remembered for many things, not the least of which is the theme song.

The series ran for only three seasons but it was enough to cement its place in animation history.
