Richie Rich is the 1994 live-action movie based on the Harvey Comics character of the same name.
The film stars Macaulay Culkin as the title character, the world's richest kid, who wants to befriend others his own age, even though his family's status prevents it. At the same time Laurence Van Dough (John Larroquette), the CFO of Rich Industries, is scheming to rob the family of its wealth.
The film is directed by Donald Petrie from a screenplay by Tom S. Parker and Jim Jennewein.
Richie Rich was not well received by critics and made a mediocre showing at the box office. However, it did thrive on the home entertainment market and prompted a direct-to-video sequel film called Richie Rich's Christmas Wish.
