Red is the 2010 Summit Entertainment live-action feature film based on the Homage/Wildstorm/DC Comics title of the same name created by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner.
Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) is a CIA operative who is now designated "Retired/Extremely Dangerous" (or RED). He now lives a solitary existence with a odd, over-the-phone bond with his pension administrator Sarah (Mary Louise Parker). When the CIA tries to execute Frank, he survives but worries that they'll use Sarah to get to him and embarks on a rescue mission, recruiting old allies Joe (Morgan Freeman), Boggs (John Malkovich) and Winslow (Helen Mirren) to help him figure out why the agency has turned on them.
The cast also includes Karl Urban, James Remar, Rebecca Pigeon, Brian Cox and Ernest Borgnine.
Robert Schwentke directed from a script by Jon & Erich Hoeber.
The film did well with critics and moviegoers, spawning the sequel Red 2.
