Over the Hedge is the 2006 DreamWorks animated feature film based on the United Feature Syndicate comic strip of the same name created by T. Lewis and Michael Fry.
The film focuses on a troop of forest critters, led by R.J. the Raccoon (Bruce Willis) and Verne the Turtle (Garry Shandling), who awaken one spring to find their woodland home is being encroached upon by a human housing development.
The voice case also include Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, William Shatner and Avril Lavigne.
Tim Johnson and Karey Kirkpatrick directed from a script by Len Blum, Lorne Cameron & David Hoselton and Kirkpatrick.
The film scored well with critics but was a box office disappointment, failing to live up to the expectations set by previous DreamWorks animation projects.
