Kingsman: The Secret Service is the 20th Century Studios' 2014 live-action feature film based on the Icon Comics series The Secret Service created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. It is the first film in the Kingsman film series.
Gary "Eggsy" Unwin (Taron Egerton) is a young Londoner drifting through life when he encounters Harry Hart (Colin Firth) who recognizes his unmet potential. Hart shepherds him into a secret service known as Kingsman. There Eggsy trains to become a full agent while Hart crosses swords with a global supervillain called Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson). Valentine manages to destroy Hart and nearly bring down the Kingsman, and it's left to Eggsy and his fellow, young recruits to stop a plan that would devastate the world population. Mark Strong and Sofia Boutella also star.
Matthew Vaughn directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Jane Goldman. Vaughn also produced under his MARV studio brand.
The film was a significant hit at the box office and scored well with the critics. It is followed by Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
