Judge Dredd (1995 Film): Theatrical Release

Judge Dredd is the 1995 live-action feature film adaptation of the 2000 AD comic book character of the same name.

Sylvester Stallone stars as the title character, a street judge in Mega-City One in the 2139, empowered to be cop, judge and executioner. Dredd is framed by rival Judge Griffin (Jurgen Prochnow) for murder and sentenced to life in prison. There he's aided by a hacker named Fergie (Rob Schneider) while rookie Judge Hershey (Diane Lane) works to clear his name.

The film was directed by Danny Cannon (Pennyworth) from a script by William Wisher Jr. and Steven E. de Souza.

The movie was panned by critics for its uneven tone and failed connect with fans of the comics who found the adaptation unfaithful. It did poorly at the box office and failed to launch the franchise.
