Ghost Rider is Sony Pictures 2007 adaptation of the Marvel Comics character of the same name.
Nicolas Cage stars as Johnny Blaze who, as a teenager, makes a deal with the devil to save his father's life. The devil cheats and years later Johnny becomes the Ghost Rider, who has to use his demonic powers to stop Mephisto's son Blackheart from reigning supreme on earth.
The film was written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson (Daredevil). It also starred Eva Mendes, Wes Bently, Sam Elliot, Donal Logue and Peter Fonda.
The movie was successful enough to generate one sequel, but overall not enough to keep Sony interested in the character. Sony eventually let the rights return to Marvel.
