The Flash is a 1990s live-action CBS Television Network TV series based on the DC Comics character of the same name.
John Wesley Shipp stars as police forensic scientist Barry Allen who is involved in a freak accident that gives him super human speed. He's aided by Dr. Tina McGee (Amanda Pays) at S.T.A.R. Labs as he works to control his powers and fight crime. The most noteworthy guest appearance was by Mark Hamill who played the villain Trickster.
The series was developed by Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo. It borrowed some of the design aesthetic of the Batman movie, giving the character a sculpted suit that made him better-resemble the comics the show is based on. Although it is fondly remembered by fans, it only ran for a single season of 22 episodes.
Shipp would later anchor the 2014 series based on the character playing Henry Allen, Barry's wrongly-imprisoned father. He would also play Jay Garrick (the Flash from Earth 2) and even reprise the role of Barry Allen in the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover event. Pays and Hammill would also appear in the 2014 show, both playing alternate versions of the same characters.
