Dennis the Menace is a 1993 live-action Warner Bros. feature adapting the comic strip character of the same name created by Hank Ketcham.
Dennis (Mason Gamble) is a rambunctious young boy whose antics routinely antagonize his elderly neighbor, Mr. Wilson (Walter Matthau). The story of the film involves Wilson being tasked with babysitting Dennis for an extended period of time while preparing to host the neighborhood's "Summer Floraganza," an annual floral event. The crown jewel of Wilson's presentation will be his prized orchid which he has been raising for decades. Naturally, things go wrong with Dennis around.
The film was directed by Nick Castle from a script by John Hughes (who had previously written and directed the similarly-themed Home Alone). The movie got a lukewarm reception from critics but did well at the box office.
