Casper: A Spirited Beginning is the 1997 live-action direct-to-video feature film based on the Harvey Comics character of Casper, The Friendly Ghost. It is a loose prequel to the 1995 theatrical release Casper.
The film details the title character's first days as a Ghost. While trained to frighten the living, Casper (Jeremy Foley) instead befriends a boy named Chris (Brendon Ryan Barrett) who is obsessed with the the paranormal.
The movie also stars Steve Guttenberg, Lori Loughlin, Rodney Dangerfield, and Michael McKean. The voice cast also includes James Earl Jones and Pauly Shore.
