Casper is the 1995 feature film adaptation of the Harvey Comics character of the same name created by Seymour Reit and Joe Oriolo.
Casper (Malachi Pearon), the friendly ghost, finds himself smitten with Kat Harvey (Christina Ricci), daughter of a celebrity ghost-hunter Dr. James Harvey (Bill Pullman). He tricks the owners of the mansion that he haunts into bringing the Harvey's in to investigate the haunting so he can be closer to Kat. Cathy Moriarty and Eric Idle also star. The film also features a slew of celebrity cameos from such names as Dan Aykroyd (in a nod to Ghostbuster), Clint Eastwood, Rodney Dangerfield, Fred Rogers, Mel Gibson and others.
The movie was directed by Brad Siberling from a script by Sherri Stoner and Deanna Oliver.
Casper did well at the box office but left the critics with a chill.
