Captain Marvel is Marvel Studios' 2019 live-action movie based on the Marvel Comics characters and concepts of the same name.
Set in the 1990s, the film is an adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. When a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom. The film also stars Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson, Gemma Chan and Annette Bening.
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed from their own script. The movie was well-received by critics and some segments of fandom. It was an unequivocal box office hit. Larson reprises the character in Avengers: Endgame and will star in the planned sequel, currently referred to as Captain Marvel 2.
