Batman: The Killing Joke is Warner Bros. Animation's 2016 direct-to-video adaptation of the DC Comics graphic novel of the same name by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland.
The Joker's feud with Batman reaches new heights as the criminal attacks Barbara Gordon (aka Batgirl), crippling her while taking James Gordon hostage. What unfolds is a descent into the psychology of the villain and how he came to be. Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy, staples of Batman: The Animated Series, reprise their roles of Joker and Batman respectively. Tara Strong, Ray Wise and Robin Atkin Downes also voice characters.
Sam Liu directed the film from a script by Brian Azzarello. The movie received mixed reviews and stirred controversy by depicting the relationship between Batman and Batgirl as sexual.
