Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is the 1993 Warner Bros. Animation theatrical feature film spinning-off from Batman: The Animated Series and based on the DC Comics character Batman.
Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy) reconnects with Andrea Beaumont (Dana Delany) who he met as a child while he was visiting his parents graves. As romance ensues, Batman finds himself on the trail of a brutal new vigilante called The Phantasm. While they share the goal of stopping crime in Gotham City, Batman does not approve of Phantasm's murderous practices. When Joker (Mark Hamill) enters the plot, Batman must decide to work with Phantasm or stop the rampage.
Eric Radomski and Bruce Timm directed the film from a script by Alan Burnett, Paul Dini, Martin Pasko and Michael Reaves.
The film is well-regarded by critics and fans alike. While it was developed for the home video market, the studio gambled that it was worthy of a theatrical release. The gamble did not pay off as the theatrical returns were minor.
