Ant-Man introduces Scott Lang to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lang is an ex-con who breaks into the home and steals what fans know is the Ant-Man suit. Lang and his crew were manipulated by Hank Pym, inventor of the suit and former Ant-Man, who was looking to keep his shrinking technology out of the hands of the scheming Darren Cross. Cross has pushed Pym out of his own company and is looking to weaponize the technology in the form of a "Yellowjacket" battle suit.
Paul Rudd stars as Lang in this more light-hearted of Marvel movies. Michael Douglas plays the senior Pym and Evangeline Lilly co-stars as his daughter, Hope Van Dyne. Corey Stoll, Michael Pena, Bobby Cannavale and Judy Greer also star.
Peyton Reed directed the film from a script by Edgar Wright, Joe Cornish, Adam McKay and Rudd.
In Ant-Man and The Wasp, Scott Lang is grappling with the consequences of his choices, as both the Super Hero Ant-Man and a father, in the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War. Marvel officially announced the project during the December 2020 Disney Investor Day event.
Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer are all returning. Kathryn Newtown will take over the role of Cassie Lang. Previously announced Jonathan Majors is set to play Kang the Conqueror. Bill Murray is also in the film in an as-yet-unknown role.
Peyton Reed, who directed the first two films, will return as director. Jeff Loveness is writing the screenplay
