The Adventures of Tintin is a 2011 animated feature film based on the comic book series of the same name created by Hergé.
Young journalist Tintin (Jamie Bell) comes into possession of a model ship depicting the lost vessel named The Unicorn. Unbeknownst to him, the model is a treasure sought after by criminals. Thus he, along with his trusty dog Snowy, embarks on a journey to unravel the mystery of the artifact, and the lost ship. The film also features Andy Serkis as Haddock, Daniel Craig as Sakharine, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg as Thomson and Thompson, and many others, all providing the physical performance along with the voices of the characters.
The movie is directed Steven Spielberg from a script by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. The Adventures of Tintin is an ambitious motion-capture epic that was intended to launch a franchise. Spielberg produced the movie along with Peter Jackson and the pair were meant to take turns directing installments.
The film enjoyed critical acclaim for its inventive use of motion capture and a return to Spielberg's sweeping adventure epic ethos. However, the movie under-performed at the box office and none of the planned sequels were made.
