30 Days of Night is Sony Pictures Entertainment's 2007, live-action adaptation of the IDW Publishing comic series created by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith.
Barrow, Alsaska is a town that experiences an annual period where the sun does not rise for 30 days. This year, however, some unwelcome guests are arriving in the form of a family of Vampires, who aim to enjoy the freedom to prey on the town without fear of the incinerating sun. Josh Hartnett stars as Sheriff Eben Oleson the man standing in the way of the undead lord Marlow, played by Danny Huston. Melissa George and Ben Foster also star.
David Slade directed the film from a script by Niles, Stuart Beattie and Brian Nelson.
The move was luke-warm with critics but found a fan base in the horror community. It inspired a small franchise which includes two TV mini-series and a straight-to-DVD sequel.
