2023 Ninja Turtles Film to Kick Off Series
Although details have been scarce, we've known for a while that Seth Rogen is producing an animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature film, which is scheduled to hit theaters in August of 2023. That movie is to be directed by Jeff Rowe of the Oscar-nominated The Mitchells vs The Machines.
During a flurry of social media announcements from Paramount+ today, the streamer revealed that the film will be followed by, "a series of villain-driven TMNT films," made exclusively for the streamer. No further details are given, but its good to see a rejuvenation of this franchise in the works.
Umbrella Academy Drops Season 3 Teaser Posters
It is fitting that, on the day of the third anniversary of the premiere of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix, that the social campaign for the show should drop a new slate of teaser posters for the third season. Seven poster each depicting the returning members of the Academy, which are Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castaneda, Tom Hopper, Elliot Page, Aidan Gallagher, Robert Sheehan and Ritu Arya.
Each is seen holding a tattered umbrella. Each casts a shadow on the ground which seems to depict the pieces of umbrella canvas flying up into the air as a flock of sparrows. It's a nice visual metaphor for the season setup: the team has returned from the past to a present-day where they don't exist. Instead, Hargreeves (Colm Feore) founded the Sparrow Academy with a new roster of adopted children.
Arya's Lila Pitt fills out the seventh team spot previously held by Justin Min, but as we saw in the previous set of poster, Min's Ben character is the leader of the rival Sparrow Academy. What the social posts haven't yet given us is the release date for season three.
Bloom County Coming To Fox TV
A new, animated take on the beloved comic strip Bloom County is coming to Fox TV, according to a report from Deadline. Cartoonist and creator Berkeley Breathed is set to co-write and executive produce the show, reviving his cast of characters that includes Opus the penguin, a failed lawyer named Steve Dallas and the unsavory (and mental) Bill the Cat. The series is being produced by Fox Entertainment, Bento Box Entertainment, Miramax, Spyglass Media Group and Project X Entertainment. In spite of the popularity of the strip, this is only the second time it has been adapted for animation, counting A Wish For Wings That Work, which adapted a story book featuring Opus.
